Restoration and revitalisation of the Liechtenstein CITY PALACE

Following completion of the restoration and revitalisation work begun in 2008, the CITY PALACE will shine resplendent once again from early 2013. The palace of the Prince von und zu Liechtenstein in Bankgasse, work on which began in 1691, is regarded as Vienna's first major late baroque building, and was the model for many other monumental buildings. The regeneration of the Palace from 1836 to 1847 was of equal importance for the history of the city, it being the starting point for the Rococo Revival in Vienna.
Liechtenstein CITY PALACE

Baroque stucco ceilings combine with the sumptuous Rococo Revival interior, the original furnishings and the elaborate parquet floors by Michael Thonet to create a harmonic whole and provide insights into ages past. The magnificent premises are available for events and can be viewed as part of a guided tour.
