Hydroelectric power

Through Liechtenstein Energie GmbH & Co KG, the Foundation Prince Liechtenstein operates five hydroelectric power stations in Kalwang.

Aims:
  • Sustainable production and sale of ecological energy from small hydroelectric power stations
  • Operation taking into account water ecology and biological diversity at local level
  • Marketing of drinking water

Kalwang Forest is responsible for the certified eco-electricity from small hydroelectric power stations.

TEICHENBACH POWER STATION

The Teichenbach small hydroelectric power station was built in 1904 by the then owner, Baron Gutmann. It was renovated in 1989.

Technical details:
380 kW output
Net head 55 m

1 Francis turbine and 1 Andritz bulb turbine. A total annual production of approx. 2 million kWh.

HAGENBACH POWER STATION A + B

The Hagenbach small hydroelectric power station began operations in 1995. The B power plant stage is fed by a high mountain spring in the Lower Tauern mountains at an altitude of 1550 m. The sustainable production of extremely pure drinking water and its marketing is regarded as an interesting field of business for the future.

Stage B 920 kW output
Gross head 750 m

Each with 1 Pelton turbine, a total annual production of approx. 12 million kWh.

KRAFTWERK KURZTEICHEN

Das Kleinwasserkraftwerk Kurzteichen wurde Ende 2014 in Betrieb genommen und zeichnet sich durch wirtschaftliche Effizienz und zugleich maximale Naturverträglichkeit aus.

FEISTERER POWER STATION

The Feisterer small hydroelectric power station began operations in 2013.
